FUTURO Communities, Inc. is currently taking applications for home ownership in Uvalde. Applications can be picked up at the FUTURO offices located at the Willie Deleon Civic Center, 330 East Main Street in Uvalde.
FUTURO intends to build ten affordable homes in Uvalde in the next two years. Five of the homes will be contractor-built and the remaining five will be self-help homes. Financing will be through the USDA. A combination of two grants FUTURO received earlier this year for down payment assistance and closing cost assistance will allow the final cost of the home to range between $50,000-$65,000. In order to qualify, the family must meet the following qualifications:
- Must qualify under the low-income guidelines set forth by the USDA (see chart below),
- Must not have owned a home in the past three years,
- Are willing to repair credit issues within 6 months to meet the credit history requirements, and
- Must meet the debt-to-income ratio set forth by the USDA.
